Live The Life You Want - Love The Life You Live!

Are you doing something you love? It might be a hobby or interest, your career or community involvement. You may be a parent wondering "what's next for me?". You could be thinking of a career transition but unsure what it is you want to do?

Chances are if you are involved in something you love, are passionate about and interested in you will not only enjoy what you are doing but you will do it extremely well. You will gain motivation and momentum through doing something you really want or value. Once you've identified what it is you want to do, you can formulate a realistic plan to achieve this.

I love music and dancing. For years I've thought about taking dance lessons but have always managed to find reasons not to. For example, I'm too busy, I wouldn't be good enough, it's not the right time etc.. etc..  Instead of focusing on the reasons why I wanted to learn to dance and the benefits I would achieve from fulfilling my passion, I quickly focused on the limiting beliefs I held around why not to follow my dream. Even watching both series of "Dancing With The Stars" wasn't enough to kick start me into action!

In November last year I decided to go for it and enrolled myself and my husband in dance classes (yes, he did go willingly!). As luck would have it, our local dance teacher is Aaron Gilmore, who won last year's "Dancing With The Stars" with Lorraine Downes. Aaron is not only a fantastic dance teacher but also an inspirational person who is fun to be around. He is passionate about dancing and is doing what he loves. I come away from the classes having learnt new skills, feeling motivated and inspired to continue and most importantly having fun doing something I love.

When you follow your dreams, passions and ambitions you feel fulfilled, you have a sense of accomplishment, and you refuel your energy tank.

To get started, ask yourself the following questions:

1. What are you passionate about? What have you always dreamed of doing? What is it that interests you the most? What really gets you going?

2. What is stopping you from doing what you want or love? What is holding you back? Is it your own beliefs, fear, not knowing where to begin or thinking you're "way too busy" and you'll "get around to it one day"?

3. Imagine how it will feel when you are doing something you love, fulfilling your passion, achieving your goal. What will it look like when you are loving the life you live, rather than existing day by day?

4. What action steps do you need to take now towards turning your dreams and goals into reality? Write your actions down to formulate a plan. Go for it and make it happen!

12 Week Biggest Loser Weight Loss Challenge Update

Rose, Denise and Jessie are currently 7 weeks into their 12 week weight loss challenge. Through personal coaching sessions, I've been supporting them in making permanent changes, providing encouragement, motivation and accountability towards achieving their goals.

Throughout the challenge they've stepped out of their comfort zones, tried new things, challenged their own beliefs and met new people along the way. I've seen their motivation, energy and fitness levels go up and their self confidence increase as their weight and body measurements have come down.

One Life Fitness 12 Week Challenge

I've recently been asked to be involved in another 12 week challenge run by One Life Fitness at Pro Fitness centres in Christchurch. This challenge involves men and women in a group environment working towards making permanent lifestyle changes to achieve their goals. My involvement has included facilitating a motivation and goal setting workshop and providing monthly support, encouragement, motivation and accountability to the group. I'm looking forward to another opportunity to do what I love - working together with people to realise their potential and live the life they want.
